Meg Ryan Flanigan
Artist • Designer• Illustrator
Meg was born in Buffalo, NY, and got her B.A. in Sequential Art and Illustration at SCAD, on the Savannah campus. Since then, she has been located in the Atlanta, GA area, focusing on building her career as a professional artist and bartending to avoid her habit of becoming a hermit when not forced to interact with other humans. While bartending has been the major focus for a long time, she has recently began to make a space for herself in the local art festival scene, taking part in local RAW Showcases, and doing small, personal commissions for individuals in the area. Recently, she dabbled in the world of prop-making, doing some comic work for BLACK LIGHTENING and several pieces for the CW’s new show STARGIRL.
Her personal pieces, especially her paintings, are very high contrast and focus on the play between the light and the shadows. Most of the pieces are inspired by places she has visited in the past, as well as her favorite hiking spots to visit when she’s avoiding the real world. Lately, she has been trying to venture into the world of the abstract which focuses on bright colors and organic movement of the mediums. While painting is one of Meg’s favorite activities, she also ventures into illustration, both traditional and digital. Many of those are based on her background as a comic book artist and contain dynamic line work, the whispers of a story, and bright colors. For fun, she enjoys subjects of witchcraft, mythology, and even the occasional dalliance into humor.
Meg is commonly seen with her beau Wendall, and her giant puppy, Quinn. They enjoy hiking, cool coffee shops, and eating heinous amounts of food together,
